Here are three pictures of Stem Cells.
This photo is how the tranplation works, first the doctor takes stem cells from the patient then the cells get counted and then freezed , then the patient recives high doses of chemo and then the stem cells are put back in the pateint.

This photo is when the stem cells have to much treatement,
the stem cell in the middle is the cells that causes the cancer for the patient in thier body.
Every cells represents every step in chemotherapy.
Why does Saint John need this treatment ?
At Saint John Regional Hospital there is a new treatment called stem cell therapy , this treatment is mostly for cancer patients, to get all the necessary equipment for stem cell transplants here in Saint John we need 680.000$ dollars . Here in Saint John since we do not have all the equipment needed for stem cell transplants, the stem cells are sent to Halifax .
(After all it doesnt just affect the person living with it , it has a impact on the whole community ) Dr. Terrance Comeau said this . Dr. Comeau decided that we need the equipment for the stem cell transplants here in Saint John because there are a lot of people in Saint John and around New Brunswick that need this treatment .At Saint John Regional Hospital we have the equipment to take the stem cells from the patient's body and put them back in but we do not have the equipement to count , freeze and reserve the cells . Dr Comeau wants to help the citizens of Saint John and New Brunswick by helping the Give (a fundraising organization) to collect money for all of the stem cell transpant equipment . This treatment is very important to all the cancer patients because when they recieve the high doses of chemotherapy they need the stem cell transplant to repair thier body .
Here at Forest Hills we would like to our part to help Dr Comeau & The Give to collect money for the equipment for stem cell transplants . We are doing a big project to collect money and teach others about Stem Cell Transplants . Stem Cell Transplants are going to save the lives of people with cancer and other diseases. Our goal at Forest Hills School is to be part of the reason that Saint John has Stem Cell Transplants .
Dr.Comeau , The Give and FHS our doing thier part to collect money for the Stem Cell Tranplants so what can the public do ? They can support the Give and Forest Hills by donating money to one of their fundraisers for Stem Cell Therapy ; you can also go to http://www.thegive.ca/ to make a donation! There is a lot of ways to help , it is very easy to make a donation , every cent counts . If the citizens of Saint John & New Brunswick put thier heads together we can bring this treatment to Saint John .
Stem Cell Tranplants are unique, it's a way to treat cancer; something the world thought could never happen With this unique treatment here in Saint John we are going to be able to save the lives of a lot of cancer patients around New Brunswick and other provinces too . Hopefully, one day Stem Cell Transplants will be avaliable everywheres !
